Suffolk has two run in NCAA regional

A former Cavalier and a former Bulldog each had impressive results at the NCAA Division I East Regional Championships May 29-30 at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.
Hampton sophomore Predist Walker (Lakeland) finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles, missing out on an automatic qualifying spot into the NCAA National Championships by one place.
Walker was eighth in the preliminary heats (14.06 seconds) to get the last spot into the finals on Saturday. In the final, Walker clocked in at 13.96.
Walker also competed for the Pirates in the long jump, finishing 23rd with a mark of 21-feet-6. Hampton placed 19th out of 51 schools which scored points.
Virginia Tech freshman Keith Ricks (King’s Fork) also competed in two events at the regional championships. Ricks placed 12th in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 21.16; and 17th in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 10.60. Virginia Tech finished seventh in the meet.
