Jonathan Luis Jackson, 23, of Suffolk, faces a total of 65 indictment counts in connection with a March 30, 2022 shooting in North Suffolk that killed one man and injured a second one.
The Suffolk Circuit Court Grand Jury returned the indictments against Jackson Wednesday, June 28 that include one for second degree murder and a capias felony direct indictment for first degree murder.
The Grand Jury also indicted Jackson, who remains in custody, on additional charges of conspiracy to commit second degree murder, malicious shooting at occupied vehicles, shooting a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, aggravated malicious wounding, conspiracy to commit aggravated malicious wounding and use of a fireman in a felony.
Along with that first degree murder direct indictment, the Grand Jury returned 57 more against Jackson, including capias felony direct indictments for use of a firearm in a felony, 28 counts of shooting a firearm from a vehicle and 28 counts of malicious shooting/throwing missiles at vehicles.
Jackson was taken into custody without incident Friday, Jan. 6, the second to be arrested in the case. Suffolk Police also charged Phillip Jovan Etheridge, 23, in connection with the homicide of Tameisha Good Rogers, 40, who was pronounced dead on the scene in the 6300 block of Townsend Place.
On March 27, 2022, the Suffolk 911 Center received a call for service in reference to an attempted armed robbery. The caller advised he was in a vehicle when two unknown individuals wearing masks walked up to the vehicle, displayed firearms which caused the caller to flee.
Prior to officers arriving at Townsend Place, the victim’s vehicle was located in the 6500 block of Hampton Roads Parkway and had multiple bullet holes.
Etheridge was indicted in September 2022 on charges of second degree murder, attempted murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of malicious shooting or throwing missiles, shooting a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder. His trial is set for July 20 in Suffolk Circuit Court.
