Fireworks, music celebrate Fourth of July

City of Suffolk Parks and Recreation Department hosts its annual concert and fireworks show Tuesday, July 4, at Constant’s Wharf Park and Marina, 110 E. Constance Rd.
Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. as Rocky 7 takes the stage from 6 to 9 p.m.
The fireworks light up the sky over the Nansemond River at 9 p.m. Admission is free for all ages.
Several food trucks and merchandise vendors will be on-site and available for purchase, including beer for those 21-years and older (IDs are required). Those attending are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for seating. A children’s area featuring bounce houses and crafts will be available, along with other outdoor games.
City officials note that there is no on-site parking for this event. Shuttle stops will be available at First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main St., and the Godwin Courthouse Building, 150 N. Main St. Shuttles run from 5:15 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and again once the fireworks are complete.
