One person in serious condition after Monday night fire

A Monday night house fire sent one person to the hospital due to smoke inhalation, but was quickly contained by Suffolk Fire and Rescue.
Emergency Communications was contacted at 10:27 p.m. Monday, May 22 for a structure fire in the 600 block of Kinsey Lane. The first fire unit arrived on scene at 10:32 p.m.
On arrival, crews found black smoke showing from the front door of the structure, according to a department news release.
Engine 3 and Ladder 3 were able to contain the fire to the room of origin. All occupants had evacuated prior to the arrival of fire crews.
One occupant was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for smoke inhalation in serious condition.
Nine Fire and Rescue units responded to the call.
