Bomb threat leads to evacuation at Col. Fred Cherry Middle School

Students at Col. Fred Cherry Middle School evacuated from the building Tuesday due to a bomb threat.
According to a news release from Suffolk Police, both officers and Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded after emergency communications received a report of the threat from a school administrator at 2 p.m.
The incident occurred during regular school dismissal time and the school, meaning students were evacuated as they were being dismissed, the news release said. No injuries were reported.
A sweep of the school building was performed by the Virginia State Police and Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office using the VSP K-9 unit. As a result, no threats were found with the building receiving an all-clear at 3:37 p.m.
The incident currently remains under investigation.
