CAPS provides new update to Night Stay Program

The Coalition Against Poverty in Suffolk, which provides shelter to homeless citizens, has changed locations.

CAPS guests can come to the Salvation Army, 400 Bank St., through Tuesday, March 14. 

Intake is provided at the Salvation Army gymnasium and guests must depart at 7 a.m. the following morning. Dinner, breakfast and a bagged lunch are provided.

CAPS guests must arrive at the Salvation Army no later than 6:30 p.m. CAPS guests must also pass the following:

  • Guests must pass an alcohol breathalyzer.  
  • Guests must not be sex offenders. Sex offender registry will be checked.
  • Guests must not have any weapons. Bags will be checked and guests will be checked for weapons.

Night Stay will go to two separate churches during the last two weeks of March.
