Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority is joining with Suffolk Public Library for the launch of a new kiosk.
Agency officials said they have been thinking of innovative ways to streamline the processes for SRHA’s families through technology.
A ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the new kiosk is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Morgan Memorial Library, 443 W Washington St.
The kiosk will be used by Housing Choice Voucher Program Participants, Public Housing Residents, SRHA clients and citizens at large. As SRHA partnered with the library on many other projects, this one is specific to SRHA and its clients by streamlining many of the current processes used to update client information.
The kiosk will:
- Minimize the handling of paperwork.
- Reduce the need for face-to-face interaction.
- Bridge the digital divide to serve clients.
- Access online payments, submit maintenance requests and complete housing applications.
- Fill out and sign applications, scan, and upload documents.
These are just a few of the many facets of the kiosk’s capabilities, SRHA officials said in a news release.
Staff members have been meeting with Suffolk Public Library to establish this partnership where the library has agreed to house one of the three kiosks. The other kiosks are in two of the public housing communities owned by SRHA.
