City offices closed Monday for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, Suffolk City offices are closed Monday, Jan. 16.
Normal operations resume at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.
The city observes all state-designated holidays. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is considered a holiday for the Commonwealth of Virginia and all state offices are closed on this day.
The Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) Transfer Station in Suffolk and the regional landfill remain open from 8 a.m. until noon Monday, Jan. 16.
Suffolk Transit operates on a normal schedule on Monday, Jan. 16.
All Suffolk Joint Use Recreation Centers — Kings Fork, Creekside, Northern Shores, Oakland, Booker T. Washington, Mack Benn, Jr. — are closed Monday, Jan. 16. The East Suffolk Recreation Center and Whaleyville Recreation Center are closed Monday, Jan. 16, as is the Suffolk Parks & Recreation administration office.
Suffolk’s four major parks — Lone Star Lakes, Lake Meade, Sleepy Hole, Bennett’s Creek — remain open Monday, Jan. 16. However, no park attendant is on duty.
The Suffolk Art Gallery is closed Monday, January 16.
All Suffolk City Libraries — Morgan Memorial, North Suffolk, Chuckatuck — are closed Monday, Jan. 16. Morgan Memorial and North Suffolk Libraries reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 17.
The Suffolk Visitor Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16. The Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum also is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16.
The Suffolk Executive Airport terminal is unmanned Monday, Jan. 16. The airfield, self-service fuel island, and restaurant remain open Monday, Jan. 16.
