Volunteers sought for demonstration project

Volunteers are being sought for an Nansemond River Preservation Alliance Native Shrub and Tree Conservation Demonstration Project from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 29.
The project, located at Sleepy Hole Park Near the Pier, 4616 Sleepy Hole Road, and includes a walking trail along the Nansemond River.
Families, couples and individuals taking part will learn about native trees and shrubs. while walking along the trail enjoying the wonderful view of the Nansemond River.
Organizers are seeking help with maintenance and reconfiguring the stones that were placed around the young trees and shrubs.
According to a news release, this is a fun event for the entire family.
Those who have weed trimmers are encouraged to bring them to the event.
Volunteers must be age 10 and older, according to the release.
Gloves, snacks and water will be provided.
