Even though the Woman’s Club of Windsor, Inc. doesn’t meet during the summer months, the Civic Engagement Community Service Program completed its first project today, a week before the first meeting of the new club year.
A beautiful sign was placed on the lot between U.S. 460 and Church Street with lots of American flags around it to commemorate the 21st anniversary of Sept. 11. We remember the many people who lost their lives that day and also honor the many who tried to save them. It was a very tragic day and one we will never forget.
The Woman’s Club of Windsor Inc. meets at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday night of each month between September and May at the Windsor Ruritan Building.
The Woman’s Club of Windsor was founded in May 1930 with its goals the same as today as they were from the start — to promote the civic, cultural, educational and social welfare of the community, to join with other club women to make a difference outside of the community and to provide fellowship for its members.
The Woman’s Club of Windsor is part of the Southside District of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Virginia (gfwcvirginia.org) and of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (gfwc.org), which is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
