No charges were filed after a man barricaded himself in a Hillpoint Boulevard apartment Saturday night before being apprehended by the Suffolk Police Department’s SWAT team.

Instead, the man was transferred to a mental health facility, city spokeswoman Jennifer Moore said Tuesday.

Police said in a news release Saturday that the standoff at 601 Hillpoint Blvd. ended without incident at 10:50 p.m.

The department’s Crisis Negotiations Team had negotiated with the man, whom police did not identify.

Hillpoint Boulevard is located off Godwin Boulevard near Sentara Obici Hospital.
