Julia V. Harris of Keeton Road, Richmond, passed away June 23, 2022, while a patient in Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born June 26, 1954, to the late Rufus Harris, Sr. and Sherley L. Harris.
Upon high school graduation, Julia acquired a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She was a member of Fifth Baptist Church in Richmond. In 2019, she retired from the Virginia Department of Charitable Gaming as a Certified Fraud Examiner.
She is survived by two sisters, Eleanor Harris, Carolyn Harris; two brothers, Rufus Harris Jr. (Queen) and Winston Harris; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, at Celebration Church Franklin, 188 Stewart Drive, Franklin with the Rev. Dr. Earl M. Brown delivering the eulogy, the host pastor is Pastor Anthony Rawlings Sr. The interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery. Masks are required at all services.
