City planner’s interim title lifted

Kevin Wyne has been selected as Suffolk’s assistant director of planning for the Planning & Community Development Department.
Scott Mills, interim director of Planning & Community Development, announced the appointment in a recent news release.
Wyne has been with the City of Suffolk since 2016 after previously working in local government planning with the City of Hopewell, Town of Warrenton and City of Poquoson. He had joined Suffolk as a principal planner and also served as the current planning manager before being named interim assistant director of planning in November 2021.
Wyne obtained his certification as Certified Planner from the American Institute of Certified Planners. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies and Geography in 2006.
Since being with the City of Suffolk, Wyne has managed many commercial and residential development projects, large-scale rezonings and the adoption and implementation of Downtown Master Plan.
