The Sentara Healthcare grant will be used to create and distribute Brain Tumor Power Packs to newly diagnosed brain tumor patients in Hampton Roads. The Power Packs will provide “tangible comfort items and important information about brain tumors and available resources.” Additionally, the Sentara Healthcare grant will enable WINKS to raise awareness in the community, increase the number of need-based Empathy in Action grants, and expand the number of patients and caregivers served.

“WINKS is grateful for the support of Sentara Healthcare and excited to partner with them to reach our shared goal of increasing services to brain tumor patients and caregivers,” said Sam Hunter, president of WINKS. “With the expanded reach of Empathy in Action, we will better equip patients and caregivers to meet the challenges of a brain tumor diagnosis and empower them to make informed decisions about care. As a brain tumor survivor, I know the importance of early decisions made on this journey and the significant impact they have on quality of life.” For more information about WINKS, visit winksbt.org.
