Police: 1 dead, 1 injured in North Suffolk shooting

Suffolk Police have identified the victims in the late Sunday shooting of two people in North Suffolk.

Tameisha Goode Rogers, 40, of Chesapeake, was shot and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, and Reginald Ashmead Thorne III, 36, of Suffolk, is in the hospital in stable condition after being shot and suffering what police described as life-threatening injuries.

Police have described the suspect vehicle as a late-model, possible mid-2000s gold-colored Ford Taurus. The suspects were noted to be men and wearing ski masks at the time of the incident.

The incident remains under investigation.

Suffolk Police said the city’s 911 center received a call just after 10 p.m. for reports of an attempted armed robbery in the 6300 block of Townsend Place. The caller said he was in a vehicle when two people in masks walked up and displayed firearm, causing the caller to flee, according to police, and several additional calls came in for shots fired in the same area as the attempted armed robbery.

Before officers got to Townsend Place, the victim’s vehicle was found in the 6500 block of Hampton Roads Parkway and had multiple bullet holes, according to police.

One woman has died and another man has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot Sunday evening in North Suffolk.

According to Suffolk Police, the Suffolk 911 center received a call at 10:14 p.m. for reports of an attempted armed robbery in the 6300 block of Townsend Place. The caller advised that he was in a vehicle when two people in masks walked up and displayed firearms, which caused the caller to flee.

Several additional calls for service came in for shots fired from the same area as the attempted armed robbery, according to police.

Before officers arrived at Townsend Place, the victim’s vehicle was found in the 6500 block of Hampton Roads Parkway and had multiple bullet holes, according to Suffolk Police. The people inside the vehicle, an adult man and woman, were both shot. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing into the incident, and police say there is no further information to release at this time.
