Police: One injured in two-vehicle crash at East Constance Road and Proctor Street

A two-vehicle accident at East Constance Road in the area of Myrtle and Proctor streets seriously injured the driver of a passenger vehicle Wednesday morning.
The person was taken to an area hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries, according to a city news release and a post on Suffolk Fire & Rescue’s Facebook page.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue said one of the cars involved was on fire, and when units arrived after getting the call from Emergency Communications at 11:33 a.m., the fire had been put out and one person was trapped inside a car.
Suffolk Police responded to the scene, and Suffolk Fire & Rescue’s Battalions 1 and 3, Engine 1, Rescue 1, Ladder 3, Medic 1 and EMS 1 also responded.
The road was closed for several hours and detours were put in place as the accident remains under investigation.
