The annual fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association, Tour de Cure, will be returning, in person, at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield on Saturday, April 30. The event has been held virtually for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tour de Cure is the largest fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association and has been coming to the Hampton Roads area for over 30 years. It is a premier cycling event for all ages and abilities.

“This event really has something for everyone. We have routes for different abilities and if cycling isn’t your thing, we have several volunteer positions available. There’s no shortage of ways to get involved,” said Director Amie Holman.

Whether you are a business looking to sponsor, a citizen hoping to volunteer or a cyclist ready to ride, there are many ways to join the cause.

Riders have course options of 12 miles, 30 miles, 63 miles or 100 miles to choose from. Regardless of which route they choose, they will be cheered on by community volunteers and fueled by rest stops along the way. Participants can register as an individual or create a team and ride with a group.

Registration will open at 6:30 a.m. and the first ride (100-mile) will begin at 7:30 a.m. Rides will continue throughout the day, with the park closing at 5 p.m.
