Keep Suffolk Beautiful is partnering with Nansemond Brewing Station to offer the St. Patrick’s Day cleanup on Saturday, March 19, from 10-11:30 a.m.
Members of the community are encouraged to participate in the cleanup. No registration is required.
Keep Suffolk Beautiful is an affiliate of the national nonprofit Keep America Beautiful. Their mission is to improve the environment and the community by coordinating events for litter pickup, recycling, planting and protecting trees, plants and flowers.
The organization is inviting volunteers to meet in the Nansemond Brewing Station parking lot, 212 E. Washington St. Participants will then collect their cleanup equipment and head out to clean the surrounding area. The event is open to all ages and anyone looking to get involved in bettering the community as well as anyone looking to fulfill any community service hours.
Nansemond Brewing Station is also excited to get involved in cleaning up the community. “Downtown Suffolk is rich in history and beauty. We have partnered with the City to help preserve that true beauty by participating in a trash cleanup. We strive in every way possible to maintain our historical downtown. Keeping it clean and green for all of our residents and tourists,” said Victoria Howell, general manager of Nansemond Brewing Station, in a press release.
After the event, participants are invited to celebrate at downtown Suffolk restaurants.
“At the end of the day, we’re hoping that people will stick around and enjoy some of the restaurants or even grab a drink with us at the brewery,” said Wayne Jones, litter control coordinator for the City of Suffolk.
