Perry Franklin Worrell Sr., 66, of Suffolk, passed away Nov. 20, 2021, at Sentara Obici Hospital from complications following a heart attack. He now celebrates his life with his parents, Joseph Franklin “Frank” Worrell Jr. and Martha “Tippy” Worrell; nephew, Frank Newsome; and aunt, Marie Roeder.

Perry worked in construction for more than 45 years. He volunteered at the YMCA of South Hampton Roads for 26 years, where he was the only recipient to receive the Volunteer Service To Youth Award twice. He was a ballroom dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Newport News in the ’80s, where he met fellow instructor and future wife, Lorraine. He was also a member of Providence United Methodist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 35 years, Lorraine James Worrell; son and fiancĂ©e, Perry Franklin “PJ” Worrell Jr. and AnnMarie Knight; sister- and brother-in-law, Debbie Worrell Dalton and Don; great-niece, Erica Mumford; aunt and uncle, Josephine Pierce and Percy; numerous members of the James, Wyatt, Pierce and Roeder families; beloved dog, Ava; and numerous family and friends.

Perry’s graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends may greet the family immediately following the service.
