Daniel Wilson “Dan” Lang, 90, of 281 US Hwy. 158 W., Gatesville, N.C., passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, in Gates House Assisted Living.
Mr. Lang was born in Gates County on July 1, 1931, and was the son of the late Claudius Elmo “C.E.” Lang Sr. and Bertie Daniel Lang. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Daughtrey Lang; sisters, Edna Earle Blanchard and Amaryllis Riddick; and by brothers, George, Joe, and Elmo Jr.
A retired carpenter from Union Camp following 35 years of employment, he was a founding member of Abundant Hope Baptist Church, was a charter and longtime member of the Gates County Rescue Squad and was a longtime leader with the Boy Scouts of America.
Surviving are his four children, Nancy Hague, John Lang (wife, Becky), Kathy Russell (husband, Steve) and Janet Mizelle (husband, Donnie); six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Abundant Hope Baptist Church and will be conducted by Pastor Walter Black. Burial will follow in the Gatesville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the church the hour prior to the services on Wednesday, and other times at John and Becky’s home, 69 Hackley Road, Gates, N.C.
Memorial contributions may be made either to Abundant Hope Church, 700 Willeyton Road, Gates, NC 27937, or to Gates County Rescue and EMS, 16 US Hwy. 158 East, Gatesville, NC 27938.
