Mrs. Emily Pugh Bailey of Suffolk said farewell to a blessed and loving earthly life and went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021. Her love for life did not come to an end with her earthly death. Her loving heart left a beacon of light for her family and all who knew her. She was born on May 20, 1944, to the late Mr. John Pugh and Mrs. Lottie Buckley Pugh.

She was a life member of First Baptist Church Mahan Street. 

Emily Marie graduated from Booker T. Washington High, class of ’62, and was a graduate of the Obici School of Nursing. She worked at Obici and later as a nurse at Boone Clinic Little Creek Naval Base Medical Center Norfolk and retired after more than 31 years of service.

Emily is survived by her loving husband, Fletcher Carroll Bailey of 57 years; three nieces; six nephews; sister-in-law, Lucille Anderson; brother-in-law, Bernard Bailey (Sandra); godson, W. James Almond Jr.; many grand nieces and nephews, cousins, life-long friends, as well as the entire BTW Class of 1962, BTW Alumni, co-workers and neighbors.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at Carver Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum, 2320 E. Washington St. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at crockerfuneralhome.com. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
