Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on the northbound Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel involving a pick-up truck and two passenger vehicles.

The crash happened about 6:28 a.m., according to a city press release.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews provided emergency medical assessment and treatment, and an adult female and adult male were taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening. Units cleared the scene at 7:08 a.m.

The Virginia State Police are handling the investigation. According to Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya, the crash occurred as a result of two prior minor crashes in the northbound lanes and a chain reaction to slowing/stopped vehicles. A total of three crashes were being investigated. All lanes to the northbound bridge of I-664 reopened at 7:38 a.m.
