Branch Civil will be relocating some of its operations in Suffolk on about 10,000 square feet of property off of Benton Road, and bring with it 140 jobs to the city.
The company is investing more than $2 million, and will receive a $50,000 Economic Development Improvement Program grant to move its industrial operations to the site at 278 Benton Road. It plans to tear down some existing facilities at that site to build a 9,600-square-foot workshop office for their industrial operations, siting dump trucks and other vehicles there, according to Interim Economic Development Director Gregory Byrd. The company also plans to locate a sales office of about 5,000 square feet in the Harbour View area of North Suffolk. The EDIP grant will come in two installments and be split between the Benton Road site and the North Suffolk site.
The company provided site preparation services for the 900-acre Port Logistics Park — formerly known as the Centerpoint Intermodal Center — in the city, moving 67,000 cubic yards of material to prepare road and parking areas on the site. It also built a 307,000 square foot building pad and finished storm drain installation and pond excavation there.
It has also completed a trio of design-build projects in the Fredericksburg area in recent years, including a reversible extension of express lanes on Interstate 95. It also provided site preparation work for expansion at The Virginia International Gateway terminal in Portsmouth, and it developed an 18-acre site for IKEA’s 331,000-square foot store in Norfolk.
It offers services including heavy civil construction, design-build and site development, and the company has offices in Virginia Beach, Roanoke, Richmond, Northern Virginia and Raleigh, N.C. It serves clients in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
