Henry “Jackie” Jackson Wright, 76, passed away July 19, 2021. He was born in Nansemond County, the son of the late James Henry Wright and Ruby Blanche O’Berry Wright. Jackie is predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Anne Elizabeth Piland Wright, and grandson, Chris Fitzwater. He retired from the Suffolk Police Department as a detective, having served for more than 30 years, and was a member of the Suffolk F.O.P., Lodge #41. Jackie and his wife Anne owned J&A Cabinet Shop. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and was most famous for his fried chicken and grilling abilities.
Jackie is survived by his daughter, Louann Wright Miller (Douglas); stepdaughter, Debbie Spratley; stepson, Isaac “Randy” Duke (Marie); grandsons, Gilbert Fitzwater III (Christy), Jason Duke (Carlin), Cory Duke; granddaughters, Elizabeth Land (Tommy), Miranda Kamphaus (Stephen); granddaughter-in-law, Crystal Edwards (Seth); 12 great-grandchildren; and beloved dog, Pete-Pete.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021, at Holy Neck Christian Church Cemetery, 4400 Holy Neck Road, Suffolk, VA 23437 with the Rev. Floyd T. Irby Jr. officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434. Memorial donations may be made to Suffolk F.O.P., Lodge #41, P.O. Box 1306, Suffolk, VA 23439.
