Leon E. Ransome, 61, transitioned peacefully Friday, July 9, 2021, at his residence in Woodbridge. After being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on April 19, 2021, his short battle was unexpected but well fought. He was born to the late Elwood Pegram and the late Darlene Ransome on Aug. 17, 1959. He was preceded in death by one brother, Daryl; his grandmother, Eleanor Ransome Creamer; and his stepmother, Jeraldine Pegram.

Leon was a son with the utmost respect, a brother who was a perfect example of a protector, a husband and father who knew no limits and a friend who went above and beyond.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Kimberly; his children, Rodney and Lindsay; his in-laws, George and Missouri (affectionately known as “Da” and “Ma”); his siblings, William (Jeanette), Danette, Wanda, Renee (Darryl), Marie, Nester, John and Derrick; and brother-in-law, Timothy (Dayna). A host of nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.

A visitation will take place from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 15, in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at noon Friday, July 16, at East End Baptist Church with a live stream attendance option with the final viewing from 11 a.m. to noon. He will be laid to rest in Meadowbrook Memorial and Cremation Gardens in Suffolk. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
