Nansemond River reaches regional semifinals in baseball, softball

Nansemond River High School’s varsity baseball and softball teams made it past the quarterfinals of their respective Region 5A tournaments, while the 2021 season ended for Lakeland High School’s baseball and softball teams in the Region 3A quarterfinals. King’s Fork High School’s softball squad fell in the Region 4A quarterfinals.
On June 14, the Lady Warriors softball team routed Gloucester High School 14-0 and advanced to play at 4 p.m. on June 15 against First Colonial High School. All games are being played at Stoney Run Park in Newport News.
On June 10, the Warriors baseball team shut out Bethel High School 6-0 and will face First Colonial on June 15 at 7 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton.
Lakeland’s No. 5-seeded softball squad lost only narrowly, 12-11, to No. 4 Colonial Heights High School on June 14.
The No. 7 Cavaliers baseball team fell 11-0 to No. 2 Colonial Heights.
The Lady Bulldogs, holding the eighth seed, lost 5-3 to No. 1 Menchville High School.
