The post-pandemic return to “normalcy” has been slower than many of us imagined a year ago — and, frankly, at this point, may never truly happen.
However, it does have its signature moments. And one of those will take place this Friday with the kickoff of the TGIF Summer Concert Series of 2021, presented this year by Lidl.
These concerts have been taking place for many years and are always well-attended, with a wide variety of favorite local bands. However, last year’s concerts were canceled in the midst of the pandemic that canceled or slowed many aspects of life.
These cancellations negatively affected the bands and concessionaires in addition to those who missed enjoying a concert, good company and sometimes even a nice breeze to relax their way into the weekend. We’re thrilled to see them return for the good of everyone.
All TGIF concerts are free and open to the public. The parks will open on Fridays at 6 p.m. and the bands will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. The music will have you jamming in your seat until 9:30 p.m.
Due to the most recent Governor’s Order, registration is no longer required to attend concerts in this series. COVID-19 guidelines are subject to change depending on state and federal regulations and guidelines at the time of the event.
The first batch of concerts at Constant’s Wharf Park and Marina, 110 E. Constance Road, include:
- June 18 — The Fuzz Band
- June 25 — The Original Rhondels
- July 9 — WOAH
- July 16 — Celeste Kellogg
The second batch of concerts at Bennett’s Creek Park, 3000 Bennetts Creek Park Road, include:
- July 30 — Buckshot
- Aug. 6 — Affirmative Groove
- Aug. 13 — Slapnation
- Aug. 20 — The Deloreans
