All 21 YMCA locations in South Hampton Roads, including Suffolk and Franklin, are offering free drop-in childcare during vaccination appointments for parents and caregivers.
The program, to support a White House initiative to remove barriers for those seeking the COVID-19 vaccine and part of President Joe Biden’s National Month of Action, will be at more than 500 YMCA locations across the United States and will go from June 9-30, by appointment.
Those in need of drop-in care for vaccine appointments can make an appointment with the YMCA up to 24 hours before the time they plan to bring their child. The YMCA will provide care for up to two hours. Children must be between the ages of six weeks and 12.
A YMCA membership is not required, though anyone seeking child care needs to establish a YMCA account. Masks are required in child care and youth programs.
The Suffolk Family YMCA is at 2769 Godwin Blvd., and the James L. Camp Jr. Family YMCA in Franklin is at 300 Crescent Dr.
