Nansemond River High School announced Alonzo Ricks Jr. as its new varsity head football coach on Friday.

Prior to joining the Nansemond River staff as an assistant coach, Ricks served as both an assistant and head football coach at Churchland High School in Portsmouth. He brings to Nansemond River a total of 18 years of coaching experience in Hampton Roads.

“We are very excited about the knowledge and experience Mr. Ricks brings to our football program,” stated a press release from the school. “We are looking forward to a smooth transition and a great season in the fall.”
