Robbery suspect arrested

A Suffolk man wanted in recent bank robberies was arrested May 18 in Newport News, Suffolk Police say.
Jayson Alyosha Newkirk, 36, was arrested in Newport News with the assistance of the Newport News Police Department and Hampton Police Department, according to a Suffolk press release. He was transported to the Western Tidewater Regional Jail and is held with no bond.
Newkirk was wanted on multiple felony charges relating to robberies at BB&T in the 1500 block of North Main Street on April 30 and at BayPort Credit Union in the 1000 block of University Boulevard on May 4.
His first court appearance is set for July 13.
