Woman airlifted after car hit by train

A woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after the vehicle she was driving was struck by a train Saturday evening.
Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the scene at the intersection of North Capital Street and Railroad Avenue. It was reported at 10:29 p.m., according to a city press release.
The adult female driver of the vehicle was transported via Nightingale to an area hospital with serious injuries after being extricated from the vehicle.
The roadway at the immediate location will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
The accident remains under investigation. No additional information is available for release at this time.
