Pedestrian injured in accident

A woman was hit by a car and injured while crossing the street in the downtown area on Saturday afternoon, according to a city press release.
The accident was reported at 4:29 p.m., and Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the scene in the 200 block of North Main Street.
Following emergency medical assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel, the injured female was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle did remain on the scene following the accident. The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Two lanes of North Main Street were closed for about 25 minutes due to the accident.
