Police: One person injured, two horses dead in multi-vehicle accident

One person was injured and two horses were killed in a multi-vehicle accident Saturday night in the 4800 block of Shoulders Hill Road.
Dispatchers were notified of the accident around 9:39 p.m. Suffolk Police said the two horses died at the scene as a result of injuries they suffered when two different vehicles struck two horses that were running loose in the road, according to a preliminary investigation.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded and took one of the drivers by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a news release.
Suffolk Animal Control also responded to the scene, and police continue to investigate the accident. The road in the area of the 4800 block of Shoulders Hill Road was closed for about two hours following the accidents.
