BC baseball, softball reach state tournaments

Bennett’s Creek Little League had two more teams become district champions and reach their respective Little League state tournaments earlier this week.
On Tuesday in Driver, BC’s 9-10-year-old softball team (Minor League) defeated Western Branch 32-12 in the District 6 championship game. Bennett’s Creek went 3-0 in the tournament and will travel to Castlewood for the state tournament starting on July 17.
BC’s softball team is managed by Andy Fuller and the players are: Victoria Abel, Angeline Corder, Hannah Foran, KateLynn Hodgkiss, Emily Hunter, Susan Mounie, Madison Rhoads, Tashira Burch, Kimberly Hopper, Kelly Lafferty, Madison Rogers and Jessica Spears.
On Wednesday, Bennett’s Creek’s 9-10-year-old baseball team, BC American, won the District 6 Minor League Tournament with an 11-9 win over Churchland in the final.
Bennett’s Creek American went undefeated, 4-0, through the tournament. BC American beat Cradock 28-0, Charles Peete 13-5 and Churchland 9-3 to get to the final.
BC American heads on a long trip for its state tournament as well, going to Luray for the tourney starting on July 16.
Lance Kitchens manages BC American. The team is Quamel Dixon, Miles Edmond, Dion Jordan, Brendon Jones, Gavin Kitchens, Kalen McNatt, Mitchell Miller, Carlos Perez, Marquis Smith, Dustin Tiller and Ian Vilevac.
Both Bennett’s Creek teams have fundraisers coming up before their state tournaments. On Tuesday, the baseball team will have “Spirit Night” from 5:30-8 p.m. at Chick-Fil-A on Main St.
The softball team will have a car wash, garage sale and Krispy Kreme donut sale at the Driver Fire Station and the 7-11 on Route 10 starting at 8 a.m. Saturday.
