Rosa L. Williams, 104 years old, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2020, at Autumn Care of Suffolk. She was born Aug. 6, 1915, in Nansemond County to the late James Wilkins and Mary Lou Bynum. Rosa received her formal education in the Suffolk Public Schools System. She was employed at Planters Peanut factory for 40 years.
Rosa was a lifelong faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Suffolk. She was active in several church groups, including the Gospel and Senior Choirs, The Willing Workers and The Missionary Ministry. She was a member of the Westside Civic League since its inception and a lifelong resident of the Boston-Williamstown communities. Rosa was also a member of Local 2426 U.A.W. in Suffolk.
Rosa was predeceased by her loving husband, Clarence Williams; daughter, Therese Harrell-Gibbons and stepdaughter, Florence Ford; two sisters, Catherine Holoman and Beulah Saunders; three brothers, James R. Wilkins, Floyd Wilkins and Alphonso Wilkins. Rosa is survived by a devoted and loving niece, Valarie Saunders, grandchildren, Judy Williams-Gregory, Gary Ford and Faye Ford; seven great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2020, at Crocker Funeral Home chapel with a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
