On Saturday, May 23, 2020, Gloria Eliza Adams, of Alexandria, entered into eternal rest. She was 93 years of age, born May 21, 1927, in Southampton County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Adams; parents, Israel Scott Sr. and Odell McNeal Scott; sons, James M. Adams and Elvin L. Adams.

She was the beloved mother of four daughters, Ruby M. Warren, of Fayetteville, N.C., Betty A. Littlejohn (Rufus), of Alexandria, Marjorie L. Pratt, of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Aleta V. Allen (Guy), of Woodbridge.

Gloria lived her early years in Suffolk, where she and her husband raised six children. She was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Suffolk, where she was an active member of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry and supported other church activities.

Gloria was an active member of the community. She was a cosmetologist and seamstress. After 22 years, she retired from the London Town Industries in Portsmouth. Health issues brought her closer to her children in the Washington, D.C., area where she lived for more than 20 years.

Professional services rendered by Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. There will be a viewing from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2020, at the funeral home. A private service will be held at noon Monday, June 1, 2020, in the Crocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel (limited seating, and masks are required). Viewing will begin one hour prior at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Holly Lawn Cemetery.
