Mrs. Wendy Harris Gray, of 117 Church St., departed this earthly life on Monday, April 20, 2020, after her fight with cancer.

Wendy was predeceased by her firstborn son, Donald Ray Gray Jr.; her husband, Donald Ray Gray Sr.; her father, William Harris; her maternal grandparents, John and Annie M. Ford; her paternal grandmother, Sarah Harris; three sisters, Cassandra Harris, Kathy Thompson and Stacy Frazier; and an aunt, Margie Thomas.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted mother and caregiver, Catherine F. Williams, who remained by her side from the beginning until she gained her wings. Also left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Cassandra “Nikki” Riddick and Kevette “KeeKee” Gray; and one son, Alonza “Bubba” Gray; four sisters, Rose Harris, Laura Gainey (Shawn), Vernell Collins and Frenchie Askew; and one brother (her heart) Alonza Harris (Sherry); her longtime love, Edward Cherry; and all her little hearts. She leaves to cherish her memories and some of her dreams 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her loving and devoted goddaughter, Megan Bess, and two longtime friends she held near and dear, Lavonne McPherson and Saranette Chapman; three aunts, Celia M. Kee, Margaret Vann, Catherine Harris and Connie Harris; two dear and devoted friends, Helen Ward and Charlie Powell, and her beloved Girl Monday Crew, Faye Mitchell, Lillian Evans, Betty Bailey and Gail Tillery; also a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Wendy’s celebration of life will be held on May 21 in a private ceremony. Harris Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

The family of Wendy Gray would like to give thanks to the Medi Home Health Care (Hospice), Bon Secours Cancer Center, and the Macedonia Family, Rev. D. Wade and Rev. C. Wade and Rev. Percy and Pamela Watford. And we would like to thank everyone not named that showed condolences and support to Wendy’s family.
