To the editor:

I am writing in response to the editorial titled “V.A.U.L.T. helps lift students up,” published in your newspaper on March 6, 2020.

I greatly appreciate the efforts of those that started V.A.U.L.T. and yourself, as you are shedding light on this important cause. As a social work major and sociology minor, these organized actions that our community is taking to address children’s needs and to overall uplift our society is a great stepping stone.

By implementing V.A.U.L.T. into Mack Benn Jr. Elementary, I believe will set a standard/example and other schools in the area may hopefully follow suit. It is significant that the community has already pulled together with a considerable amount of different organizations and businesses to help give donations.

Another important component in the spreading and hopeful growth of this great cause is getting the word out. Making sure to spread the word will help spark great interest in other communities to do the same or create a similar cause in order to help overall boost communities. Small steps everywhere create larger overall impact.
