The King’s Fork High School track and field team feels good as they prepare for postseason meets.

King’s Fork is looking to make some noise in the Class 4A region. The Bulldogs boast a young group this season that features plenty of underclassmen, with a good group of talented upperclassmen who have their tickets punched to the Class 4 state meet already. Just a season ago, King’s Fork had graduated 17 seniors. Coach Adrian Young feels good about the work the Bulldogs have put in at this point and is looking forward to seeing how they continue to build on it over these next couple of weeks.

“The maturity and focus level of this team has been impressive,” Young said. “We have some experienced runners, and that helps. A lot of our athletes have strong work ethics and have adapted the mentality we have for this program, which is something you always want to see.”

With the forthcoming regional meet next weekend, the goal is for the Bulldogs to bring home what could be the school’s first regional championship as a team. With the alignment change in the region, Young feels it is a good chance to feel out the competition they will see over the next couple of years and how they will need to adjust.

Nate Edghill returns as a senior who has improved year after year and could do some good things for the Bulldogs on the region and state level. Alex Robinson, who is a team captain this year, has performed well.

Young is also excited about his girls’ team, who are young but rank well among the state with some solid national times as well. Kayla Lee has been a big boost for the team.

Right now, for the Bulldogs, it’s about maintaining health before the postseason meets. The Bulldogs are in good health and looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish to close out February before gearing right back up for the outdoor season.
