Masters of Soul coming to Suffolk

Fans of Motown and soul music will soon have the chance to go back in time for a night of fun downtown at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts.

The “Masters of Soul” will perform Saturday evening at the Suffolk Center, located at 110 W. Finney Ave. The show has stylishly costumed, fully choreographed performances by both male and female groups with a live band accompaniment, according to the press release.

The 10-person Masters of Soul cast delivers a “celebration of the legendary songs and performers that defined Motown and soul music,” the press release states.

Three lead male vocalists and three lead female vocalists will take to the stage on Saturday, joined by a four-piece band of experienced musicians who have toured together for decades.

“For many, Masters of Soul is the ultimate stroll down memory lane, performing hit songs from singers such as Gladys Knight & The Pips, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Diana Ross & The Supremes and more,” the press release states. “For the younger generation, the show offers an opportunity to experience an era in our country’s history that produced many of the greatest music acts ever recorded.

“Get ready to dance and sing along to your favorites!”

The Masters of Soul concert will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Suffolk Center, 110 W. Finney Ave. Tickets range from $25 to $40, and all tickets cost $5 more the day of the event.
