Tickets are still available for the Suffolk Humane Society’s “Paws for the Arts” fundraiser next week in downtown Suffolk.
The seventh annual Paws for the Arts will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Hilton Garden Inn Suffolk Riverfront, 100 E. Constance Road.
There will be live and silent auctions, with items like a “burger a week for a year” from Baron’s Pub on North Main Street, and a similar “pizza a week for a year” from Amici’s on East Washington Street, according to Margie Wiley, a board of directors community representative for the Suffolk Humane Society.
Attendees will be able to bid on more than 100 items, according to Wiley. For one biddable item, an artist will memorialize your beloved dog on a ceramic lamp. Another service provided by a Suffolk pet daycare will provide your pet with special treatment during their stay.
The Hilton Garden Inn will cater with delicious, heavy hors d’oeuvres and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Beer and wine will be included in admission, while mixed drinks will cost extra.
13News Now Meteorologist Tim Pandajis will be the master of ceremonies this year, with a “special familiar guest” for the Suffolk Humane Society’s biggest fundraiser, an event that typically raises more than $30,000 annually, Wiley said.
“That fundraiser allows us to continue our mission for the year, basically,” she said.
Tickets are $50, with proceeds benefiting the Suffolk Humane Society. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Tickets can be bought with cash or check at Mike Duman Auto Sales, 2300 Godwin Blvd., and at Nansemond Veterinary Clinic, 110 Kensington Blvd., or at the Suffolk Humane Office at 412 Kings Fork Road. Tickets can also be purchased online at suffolkhumanesociety.com.
