Lady Bulldogs best Lady Cavs

The King’s Fork High School girls’ basketball team earned a 56-42 win over Lakeland High School Tuesday night.

The Lady Bulldogs picked up their second win of the season over a rival, defeating the Lady Cavs on the road Tuesday night. It was a good matchup between the two, and it set the tone for the rest of the night, with both boys’ and girls’ basketball on display at Lakeland.

Quadaia Coles added another double-double for the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Niyah Gatson finished with a team-high 16 points and eight rebounds, while Ashlee Robertson added 14 points. Arlisha Boston scored in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs with 12. The win put King’s Fork at 6-5 on the season.

For the first time this season, the Lady Cavs have lost three games in a row. The loss dropped them to 7-3, and they currently have a split their two crosstown rivals, having won against Nansemond River High School. Lakeland had three players in double figures Tuesday night, with Jamauri Demiel leading with 13 and Nyeisha Savage adding 12 and Kemonye Canady adding 11 points.

Lakeland will play its third game of the week against Deep Creek High School.
