Plaid Turnip at SCCA during renovations

The Plaid Turnip restaurant space on North Main Street is currently closed for renovations, but the restaurant will continue serving customers at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts before returning to North Main Street.
Owner Ed Beardsley said in a phone interview Monday that the restaurant is being temporarily relocated from its 115 N. Main St. location to the former Mosaic Restaurant space in the Suffolk Center, located at 110 W. Finney Ave.
The Plaid Turnip will serve customers in the former Mosaic location beginning Wednesday, with the Turnip’s full food menu available, Beardsley said.
The renovations at the North Main Street space are expected to be done within a month. According to Beardsley, the goal is to reopen at 115 N. Main St. in time for Valentine’s Day in February.
“The Turnip has been open for pretty much 10 years, so it needs a little bit of work here and there — just a few upgrades,” Beardsley said.
Once Plaid Turnip returns to North Main Street, Beardsley expects to have his new Art’s Kitchen restaurant open at the Suffolk Center within a week. He said the focus of the new Art’s Kitchen will be soups, salads, sandwiches and other small plates in a “café-style” setting.
