The D2football.com All-American teams were released recently, and former Bulldog standout Deshaun Wethington was an honorable mention.
Wethington continues to receive accolades for his stellar sophomore campaign for the Chowan University Hawks. The D2football.com All-American teams were selected by the staff writers of the website along with some coaches and sports information directors from across the country. The team is composed of the best players in the NCAA Division II this season.
Wethington was selected honorable mention despite only playing in eight of 10 games. He finished the season with 1,382 yards and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 8.7 yards per carry and 172.8 yards a game, which was good for second and 11th in the nation, respectively. The Suffolk native also earned himself first team All-CIAA and was selected to the 2019 Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association All-Super Region team. If healthy next season, Wethington could be lining himself up for a record-breaking season.
At King’s Fork, he rushed for nearly 6,000 yards for his career and more than 70 touchdowns, earning numerous All-Conference, All-Region and All-State selections. He was ranked as a two-star prospect coming out of school.
