Virginia’s gas prices are slowly dropping with the national average, AAA Tidewater Virginia announced Wednesday, which is good news for motorists heading into the holidays.
According to a Wednesday press release, gas prices in Virginia are at $2.30, which is eight cents higher than last year, but two cents lower than last month and a penny cheaper than last week.
The nationwide average is $2.57, a penny cheaper on the week. Most states saw minimal movement at the pump in the last week, but several states saw decreases of up to four cents, and fewer than a dozen states saw an increase, the press release states.
“Since the end of October, gasoline demand has decreased as gasoline stocks have increased, for the most part, paving the way for cheaper gas prices,” Georjeane Blumling, spokeswoman for AAA Tidewater Virginia, stated in the press release. “AAA expects stocks to continue to grow and drive gas prices even cheaper through year-end.”
Gasbuddy.com on Friday recorded regular gas prices in Suffolk that ranged from $2.14 to $2.29 per gallon, which is the same range that range in Suffolk gas prices that was recorded on gasbuddy.com on Dec. 4.
