DeVaughn Orr, Natouris Knight and Jamari Simmons was selected to the Class 4A All-Region teams for the Bulldogs.
The King’s Fork High School football team had a solid first year under the direction of Coach Kermit Buggs, going 4-8. After some close losses during the regular season, the Bulldogs were able to squeeze into the region playoffs as a sixth seed. They upset the No. 3-seeded Warhill High School on the road and went on to take on Churchland High School. After being up early in the game, the Bulldogs took a loss in the Class 4A region semifinal game, ending their season.
With a talented region, the Bulldogs were able to have some representatives on the All-Region team along with a host of honorable mentions. Orr led the way with a first team All-Region selection at offensive lineman. Orr came into the season as one of the more highly touted offensive linemen in South Hampton Roads. He helped anchor the Bulldogs’ offensive line and was happy his play was able to be recognized.
“These guys are well deserving,” Buggs said. “They have worked hard all season.”
“It’s an honor that my play has been noticed and recognized at that level,” Orr said.
Knight was selected second team All-Region at receiver and was also selected second team All-Region at defensive back. Jamari Simmons was selected second team All-Region at linebacker.
King’s Fork also had five players make honorable mention: Garrett Williams, Deandre Taylor, Leo Wethington, Kyree Moyston and Ivan Allen.
“I’m just grateful to be recognized,” Knight said. “I have been waiting on this for a long time. I really wasn’t expecting this, but this moment means a lot to me right now.”
Simmons is a junior and will return for his senior season next year. Knight and Orr had very strong senior campaigns, with chances to go play at the next level if they choose. King’s Fork is looking forward to year two under Buggs, after he and his team have the benefit of a full offseason together.
