Christiansen named semifinalist for award

Former NSA standout Cole Christiansen has recently been named a Lott IMPACT Trophy semifinalist.

The current Army standout was named to the IMPACT Trophy watchlist before the season began. Last month, he was selected to the quarterfinalists, and now he is one of nine selected as semifinalists.

Army is 5-6 as a team, but Christiansen has been having his best season to date. He is ranked 13th in the nation in tackles with 99 and 13th in solo stops with 58. A couple of weeks ago, Christiansen was selected IMPACT Player of the Week after posting a career-high 16 tackles to go along with a tackle for loss in a game against Air Force.

The award, now in its 16th season, recognizes a defensive player who makes the biggest “impact” on his team both on and off the field. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

For his career at Army so far, the Suffolk native has made 33 starts and has 262 total tackles and 148 stops.

As a standout at NSA, Christiansen was two-time state Defensive Player of the Year. he also helped NSA earn a state championship in 2015. He is the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association all-time tackler with 436 stops.
