Nansemond River High School baseball standout Bryson Dansberry made his college decision official Monday, signing a letter of intent to play at Division I Radford.

Dansberry made his decision official during a signing ceremony at the school, having been committed to Radford for more than a year. With his signing, Dansberry is excited to focus on his future, which starts with his final season of high school baseball.

“Now that the recruiting process is over and on paper, I have to continue to work harder,” said Dansberry, who plans to major in marketing. “I have to keep getting better if I want to earn my spot on the team at Radford and to show I belong.”

With Dansberry being committed for so long before actually signing, he said he never thought about reopening his recruiting process. When he committed in August 2018, he knew it was the right decision for him.

“I never second-guessed my decision on committing to Radford,” Dansberry said. “Went on a visit and love it and felt like Radford was the best place for me.”

Dansberry is coming off of a strong 2018-2019 year in which he was selected second-team All-District at second base. Nansemond River had a strong regular season but fell in the first round of the region tournament.

He hopes this season he can help contribute to Nansemond River’s second-ever baseball championship while racking up more individual accolades. Though he was recruited as a second baseman for Radford, Dansberry is open to playing other positions in college.

“Radford recruited me as a second baseman, but I also play outfield, so whatever the coach needs me to do, I will do,” Dansberry said.
