Isle of Wight deputy injured in crash

An Isle of Wight deputy suffered injuries deemed non-life threatening in a two-vehicle accident on Sunday that involved a Suffolk driver.
According to the press release, at approximately 2:48 p.m. Sunday, an Isle of Wight deputy K-9 officer was stopped at the intersection at Windsor Boulevard and Yellow Hammer Road.
A 2012 Dodge Charger was traveling on Windsor Boulevard, driven by Galen Henderson, 39, of Suffolk. According to the press release, Henderson fell asleep at the wheel, ran off the roadway and struck the deputy’s stopped vehicle.
The deputy was flown by Nightingale from the scene. The deputy’s K-9, who was also inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, did not suffer any injuries.
Henderson did not suffer any injuries, and was charged with reckless driving, the press release states.
