Veterans Day closures announced

A Monday press release detailed closings and operating hours for Suffolk City offices in observance of Veterans Day.
City offices will be closed on Veterans Day this Monday, with normal operations resuming Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. All state offices in Virginia will be closed for the holiday next week.
The Suffolk Public Works Department will pick up trash as scheduled Nov. 12 to 15. TFC Recycling will also conduct their normal recycling collection routes.
The Southeastern Public Service Authority Transfer Station in Suffolk will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Veterans Day, and the SPSA Regional Landfill will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on the same day. Suffolk Transit will also operate as scheduled this Monday.
The East Suffolk Recreation Center, Whaleyville Recreation Center and the Suffolk Parks and Recreation Administration Office will be closed on the holiday, as will Suffolk Parks and Recreation Joint Use Recreation Facilities. All Suffolk Public Library branches will be closed, along with the Suffolk Art Gallery.
Suffolk’s four major parks — Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole and Bennett’s Creek — will remain open on Monday, although no park attendant will be on duty.
The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, and the Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the same day.
The Suffolk Executive Airport Terminal will be unmanned on Monday, but the airfield, self-service fuel island and restaurant will remain open on Monday.
